A sherry finished bottling from the independent distillery. Bottled unchillfiltered in 2007 after 18 months in oloroso sherry casks.
Tasting Notes from Gavin Smith’s Whiskypages.com For the lover of a truly Sherried malt. The nose is rich, with brittle toffee, a whiff of furniture polish, spice and gentle Sherry. Water releases much sweeter, fruitier notes. In the mouth this is a big-bodied whisky, mouth-coating, spicy, and not too sweet. Elegant and well balanced, with hazelnuts coming through once water is added. The finish is long and increasingly drying. A lovely example of how a perfectly-judged period of Sherry finishing can enhance a malt. Tullibardine and Sherry wood go together extremely well.
Official Tasting Notes Specially selected 1993 spirit was re-casked into an ‘Oloroso’ sherry cask for about 18 months and carefully monitored by the Distillery Manager prior to bottling. Described as having a deep amber colour with a toffee, butterscotch and vanilla sweetness to the nose but when water is added a fruity and sweetly fragrance is released. A dry and fresh, mouth drying and spicy taste which when water is added gives a nuttiness to the taste.
