Set plots of land situated in the North of the Coast of Beaune on a geology very different from “Montrachet”. He is produced at once on the municipalities of Aloxe-Corton, Pernand-Vergelesses and Ladoix-Serrigny. This big country of Burgundy owes its reputation to emperor Charlemagne who gives the order to plant in vineyard the big part of its domain to donate it in 775 in the Abbey of Saulieu. The wine of Corton-Charlemagne is of a very big complexity, owed essentially to the origins.
Truly an exceptional young Corton. Classic Leroy perfume dominates the nose with mostly black cherry aromas. Same black cherry flavors come through on the palate with bold, meaty spices. Fruit is incredibly bright and racy, this is already nicely balanced and gorgeous from start through long finish.
Starts amazingly floral with great spice support and red fruit. Fruit evolves on palate toward balance of red cherry and black cherry, along with amazing spice. Completely balanced already out of barrel. Finish shows explosive and powerful fruit that is completely alluring. It is a rare treat to ever have Leroy Musigny and standing next to the two barrels produced in 2009 makes it easy to understand why it is so hard to find this wine. Exceptional.
